Chebyshev's inequality only predicts the minimum probability around the mean based on the distance measured in terms of std. devn. (k). It does not make any assumptions about the underlying distribution. Actual probabilities in a band around the mean based on normal or Student's t-distribution will differ from Chebyshev's estimate.
